Quick Start

Here's the quickest way to create a browsable list of images. You need a bunch of .jpg or .gif image files to start with. ImajSite must be installed first (obviously).
  1. Create a new empty directory (folder):
Standard Windows Method:  In a folder window, right-click in an empty area and select "New" > "Folder". Then type the name of the new folder and press Enter.

  2. Copy your .jpg and/or .gif files into the new directory:
Standard Windows Method:  Just drag them from their old folder and drop them into the new folder.

  3. Create a build script called "makeindx.bat" in the new directory:
ImajSite Windows Method:  Open the new folder window, right-click in an empty area and select "New" > "ImajSite Build Script".
This will create a file called "makeindx.bat" with the single line "@mkhtmset".

  4. Copy the entire icons directory from the ImajSite installation directory to the new directory:
Standard Windows Method:  Just drag the "icons" directory from the ImajSite installation folder to the new folder using the right mouse button, and select "Copy Here".

  5. Run the "makeindx.bat" build script:
Standard Windows Method:  Double-click on the "makeindx.bat" file in the new folder.
This will create a bunch of .htm files, including one "index.htm" file.

  6. Double-click on the index.htm file to invoke your browser, and view the files.

That's all there is to it!

Adding Thumbnails

If you want to add thumbnails to your directory, do the following:
  1. Create a new subdirectory called "thumbs":
Standard Windows Method:  Open the folder you created above, right-click in an empty area and select "New" > "Folder". Then type "thumbs" and press Enter.

  2. Add the line "template=thumblist.htt" to the end of the "makeindx.bat" file:
Standard Windows Method:  Right-click on the "makeindx.bat" file and select "Edit". Add the line "template=thumblist.htt" to the end of the file, as shown below. Save the file and exit Notepad.

    makeindx.bat:    @mkhtmset
     template=thumblist.htt

  3. Run the "makeindx.bat" build script:
Standard Windows Method:  Double-click on the "makeindx.bat" file in the new folder.
This will create a bunch of thumbnail files in the "thumbs" subdirectory, and update the "index.htm" file to display them.

  4. Double-click on the index.htm file to invoke your browser, and view the files.

Now you've got a complete web site you can view from any disk or copy to a web server.
