Keywords

Keywords may be assigned to indexes or to individual slides. Keywords are used to categorize individual images or indexes, and/or to add descriptive icons to index links.

Keywords may contain letters, numbers, spaces, periods, underscores, and some other characters. They must not contain commas (,), quotes ("), less than (<) or greater than (>) signs, or other special characters.

There are two types of keywords: visible and hidden. Visible keywords are used for categorizing images, and may also be used to assign descriptive icons to images. Hidden keywords are used only for assigning descriptive icons to images. Hidden keywords always begin with an underscore ( _ ) character.

How Keywords Are Used:

The "mkhtmidx" utility uses both the visible and the hidden keywords to display icons next to the links that appear in the generated index. The "keyicons.txt" file is used to specify which icons appear based on the keywords used.

The "makelink.bat" script uses the visible keywords to determine which links will appear in the generated "symlinks.txt" file and the corresponding index.

If a searchable index is generated, the visible keywords will appear to the user in a keyword list box that can be used to select which entries are displayed in the index.

Assigning Keywords:

Keywords may be assigned to or removed from individual files by right-clicking on the file (from Windows Explorer) and selecting "HTML File Info". You can then edit the keyword list for that file directly.

Keywords may be added to or removed from multiple files at the same time by using the DropHTM or KwdList utilities.

For advanced users, the HTML keyword list can be edited directly, using a text editor.
